From Saints to Aints: NFL hands down suspensions on Bountygate players

It took over a month for the NFL to finally discipline the New Orleans Saints players involved in Bountygate, but finally commissioner Roger Goodell decided to lay down the hammer.

As expected, linebacker Jonathan Vilma was hit the hardest after receiving a one year ban from football. Other players receiving suspensions include defensive tackle Anthony Hargrove (eight games), defensive end Will Smith (four games) and linebacker Scott Fujita (three games).

Here’s what people were saying when they heard about the suspensions…

I feel for u J.Vilma! Goodell not the entire season! We only get a average of 3years to play and u have taken a entire season from a man.

Player punishments are extremely harsh but Goodell needed to send same message to players he sent to management.

I wonder how much of a bounty Roger Goodell gets for delivering that punishment.

Hey Goodell…now that the Saints have been thrown under the bus, can we please get our $36M in stolen cap back? Thanks. #HTTR

I hope Roger Goodell gets hit by a bus and his corpse gets gang-banged by a bunch of homeless guys. I hate him w/the fire of 1000 suns.

Leadership, thy name is Roger Goodell. Bravo for having the courage to punish.

The Saints fans need to put a bounty on Roger Goodell cuz he tryna turn yall back into the Aints.

Its funny how "22 to 27 players" were involved but only 4 get suspended. Goodell=sorry bitch

Goodell making the Saints the only team to have a lockout this year

Pretty bad deal for Jonathan Vilma. For offering a $10,000 bounty on Warner & Favre, he will lose $2.6 million.

Jonathan Vilma got jerked

— El Presidente (@ReginalThomas) May 2, 2012

I don't think the player suspensions were tough enough. Vilma should have received a longer suspension. #bountygate
