President commutes sentences of nearly 100 more felons

The Weekly Standards Stephen Hayes recently called President Obama’s claims regardingthe Guantanamo Bay detention facility “brazenly and stunningly misleading” and accused him of “breathtaking dishonesty.” The subject was the president’s claim in an interview that of the hundreds of Gitmo prisoners released over the years, “a handful” would necessarily rejoin terrorist groups.

While a handful of us worry that we’ve forgotten something important at homeafter we part for vacation, President Obama made certain to commute the sentences of100 more U.S. prisoners before taking off for Hawaii.

Andrew Malcolm of Investor’s Business Daily reports that PresidentObama last Friday quietly commuted the prison sentences of almost 100 federal felons, mostly drug dealers, calling his act“another step forward in upholding our fundamental ideals of justice and fairness.” Malcolm adds that “since nearly half were serving life sentences, some for gun crimes, they’re not supposed to be out on the streets ever.” In the meantime, the president is thanking the NBA for joining ranks with gun control bully Everytown for Gun Safety.

Has it already been two years since President Obama’s infamous “you didn’t build that” speech? Yes it has, as Larry Elder reminded us, while including an “All in the Family” reference to mark the occasion:

‘How would the Left react’ if a Republican White House sent out this graphic?!/siftyboones/status/519929355208638464

ISIS can wait. What we need to deal with right now is raising the minimum wage:

In the 2014 State of the Union address, President Obama called on Congress to raise the national minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.10 an hour, and soon after signed an Executive Order to raise the minimum wage to $10.10 for the individuals working on new federal service contracts.

Raising the minimum wage nationwide will increase earnings for millions of workers, and boost the bottom lines of businesses across the country. While Republicans in Congress continue to block the President’s proposal, a number of state legislatures and governors, mayors and city councils, and business owners have answered the President’s call and raised wages for their residents and employees. Read a report on the progress that’s been made so far across the country.

Women especially are depending on that minimum wage hike:

Let's help millions of #WomenSucceed by raising the minimum wage to $10.10 → #RaiseTheWage

Hmmm. Maybe the White House should think this through a little more:

@WhiteHouse Let's drive more women from the labor force because that's the best way to make unemployment lower.

Business trip: President to designate national monument between fundraisers!/markknoller/status/520383618238406656

CBS News’ Mark Knoller reports that President Obama will take a brief break from fundraising in California Friday in order to designate 346,000 acres of the San Gabriel Mountains as a national monument.

@markknoller A national monument to Obama in the San Gabriel Mountains?

— Paula Bolyard (@pbolyard) October 10, 2014

Possibly. Hey, wouldn’t this official action make at least part of this trip reimbursable by taxpayers?

@markknoller @mrzmazz .His lame excuse to charge this fundraising trip off as official business.

— 4chunat1 (@4chunat1) October 10, 2014

@markknoller Now taxpayers can pay for all expenses since he is going to visit national park. DNC shld pay for his fundraising expenses

— menunu (@barbszoo22) October 10, 2014

That fact doesn’t seem to have slipped past Knoller, either.

The monument designation is political outreach to conservationists and also offsets some of the DNC's political costs of his trip.

— Mark Knoller (@markknoller) October 10, 2014

@markknoller Not necessarily in that order

— Uncle Billy (@FOWfan01) October 10, 2014

Unreal! Did Donna Brazile say nurse infected with Ebola was asking for it?!/dutchindian/status/522383483839451137

Wait, what? Well, you see, this happened:

Nurse infected with Ebola knew risks of her work via @YahooNews #service

— Donna Brazile (@donnabrazile) October 15, 2014

Wow. Just … wow. That was the headline of the Yahoo! article Ms. Brazile tweeted, seemingly in endorsement as she did not say otherwise.

@donnabrazile but President Obama said that it was "unlikely" that an Ebola case would strike the US. @YahooNews

— Valerie (@Thelmavrh) October 15, 2014

Bingo. Plus, Brazile outed herself yet again as a pathological liar and hypocrite when she sneered that there is nothing to fear about Ebola. Just the icky GOP trying to scare people and stuff!

Twitter users swiftly gave the shameless and gross Brazile the business.

‘Never his fault!’ Can you guess who WH blames for Obama’s missing remarks?

In Chicago last night for a DNC fundraiser, President Obama told his audience what happened when he went back to his pre-White-House pad:

President Barack Obama had a chance to visit his house in Chicago, Illinois when he was in the city for a some campaign appearances on Monday and he was apparently greeted by a stack of “unpaid bills.”

“One of the nice things about being home is actually that it’s a little bit like a time capsule. Because Michelle and I and the kids, we left so quickly that there’s still junk on my desk, including some unpaid bills,” Obama said. “I think eventually they got paid — but they’re sort of stacked up. And messages, newspapers and all kinds of stuff.”

Obama’s comment about the “unpaid bills” was subsequently edited out of a copy of the speech distributed by the White House. However, the full quote was preserved by press pool reporters who covered the event. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider on Tuesday asking about the discrepancy.

Well, eventually the White House did respond to the inquiries — with this:

Is that so?

Oh, fer the love of …

There’s only one way the White House’s explanation can possibly be true:

It gets even better:

Good. Lord.

‘Affordable my butt’! POTUS suggests cutting back on cable, cell service could help you pay Obamacare [video]

That’s basically the gist of President Obama’s recent suggestion.

Last week, he participated in a town hall event geared toward the Hispanic community. One of the questions for him came from a man with a $36,000 annual income, who feels that his minimum monthly premium under Obamacare is too much for him. After offering Medicaid as a possible solution — and blaming states like Texas and Florida for not properly expanding Medicaid — President Obama suggested that people struggling to afford their monthly health insurance premiums just “haven’t prioritized health care,” and they might want to cut back on their cable and cell phone service.

Yeah, we’re guessing it would not go over terribly well.

Some people kind of understood where the president was coming from:

He shouldn’t’ve made plans at all. The government has no business getting involved in our health care. And while his point about sound budgeting is a good one, is he, President Big Spender, really in a position to tell people how to allocate their money?

Definitely not. And many rightly bristled at his remarks:!/MooseMcKnuckle/status/443780415262695424!/NoahWehrman/status/443756119664521216

‘Unbelievable!’ White House says no Ebola-related travel restrictions

The first ever case of Ebola diagnosed in the United States was a man who flew to the country from Liberia. So you might be wondering…

Just spitballing here, but shouldn't travel restrictions be in place right now for people coming from Ebola afflicted countries?

— RB (@RBPundit) October 1, 2014

In response to similar questions, Josh Earnest said today that there would be no travel bans from countries with Ebola epidemics:

Good freaking grief "White House: No Ebola travel restrictions"

— Tammy Bruce (@HeyTammyBruce) October 1, 2014

Earnest said the chances of an epidemic in the U.S. are “incredibly low.”

Yes, he did.

There will be costs,” President Obama said on Friday as reports of Russia occupying Crimea circulated. But, you see, CNN reported that the administration viewed that as an “uncontested arrival” of Russians in Ukraine, not an invasion.
